Nor'easters start inaugural season perfect
Sunday -- The Nor'easters begin their inaugural season with a series sweep over the Inglorious Batters.
Game 1: NOR 4 IB 3
The Nor'easters took game one on a walk-off win in the bottom half of the third from Riley Frost, who also pitched a complete win over the Batters. The Batters took a 2-0 lead over the Nor'easters in the second but they couldn't hang on long as Matt Fronduto was able to hit in a pair of runs with a left-field single. In the third inning, the Batters took the lead again when rookie Aj Diecidue drove in a run with a groundball. But the Nor'easters didn't back down as they rallied to win with a two-run third inning. Grady Chan batted a .333 in his debut with his new team.
Game 2: NOR 1 IB 0 / 5th Inning
After a one-run win in game 1, the Nor'easters were able to complete the sweep with a 1-0 win in game two, which took 5-innings before a winner was determined. Both Matt Cahill and Ryan Hoyt pitched sensational games with a combined 13 hits, none were in which extra-base hits. Cahill had three strikeouts and just one walk. Hoyt pitched through four innings with no strikeouts, unfortunately, but his defense proved to have his back. A tough inning for Hoyt tho led to three walks and one resulted in the winning run reaching the plate for the Nor'easters.
The Nor'easters will be back in action on Sunday, May 23 when they host the Mallards. The Inglorious Batters will have a weekday game on Tuesday, May 25 when they visit Eagle Fang Wiffle.
